Psychotherapy for Adults

A steady place to reflect and work through what feels hard. In-person sessions in Westchester and Manhattan. Virtual sessions available throughout New York and Connecticut.

What Brings People In

Sometimes a recent experience has unsettled things. Other times it’s something longstanding, like a relationship pattern, ongoing anxiety or sadness, self-doubt, or the feeling that life is harder than you want it to be.

You may not have a clear way of naming what’s wrong. You may simply know that something isn’t sitting right. Therapy offers a space to slow down and begin making sense of what may be contributing to these experiences.

How i work

My work is integrative, grounded in psychoanalytic theory and practice, and informed by other approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and EMDR, when useful.

In therapy, we look at what’s happening in your life right now. We also look at the patterns that repeat, especially in relationships and in how you see yourself. Often, influences shaping your reactions are outside of awareness. Bringing them into view creates room for change.

This work unfolds over time. It moves through conversation, reflection, and careful attention. My role is to listen closely and together with you clarify what may be difficult to see on your own.

Who i help

I work with adults individually at any stage of life, including college and graduate students, young adults, and those navigating midlife transitions.

Deborah Levin, Psy.D.

I’ve been practicing as a psychologist for over twenty years, with experience in hospitals, research settings, university counseling centers, and private practice. I also serve as adjunct faculty at the Ferkauf Graduate School of Psychology at Yeshiva University, where I supervise graduate clinicians in psychodynamic psychotherapy.

Over time, I’ve developed a deep respect for the complexity of people’s inner lives and the patience the therapy process requires. If you’d like to explore whether we might be a good fit to work together, book a free intro call with me below.

  • Individual sessions are $300 for 45 minutes.

  • I am an in-network provider for Aetna (Columbia Student Health only). For all other plans, I am considered out-of-network. I recommend contacting your insurance company to ask about your out-of-network behavioral health benefits, including your annual deductible, per-session reimbursement, and whether pre-authorization is required.

  • This depends on your individual needs. Sessions are 45 minutes, and we typically meet one to two times a week.

  • Yes. I offer in-person sessions in Westchester (Hartsdale) and Midtown Manhattan, and virtual sessions for residents of New York and Connecticut.

  • EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a structured therapy known to be helpful in treating a range of distressing experiences. It relies on the brain’s natural healing processes and is designed to help resolve unprocessed traumatic memories. I may incorporate EMDR into our work when it is clinically appropriate.
